I’ve always maintained that there is a proper level of cost for a lawyer with family law expertise.  In my opinion, it is a bell curve; at some point, the hourly rate is too high and, therefore, there are diminishing returns on that “investment.”  On the other end of the spectrum are the bargain basement-ers, who may deliver lesser results than you had expected.
